As so many do, I have launched Design Menace under the Beta tag. And since I probably will get some crap for this, let me go into why a little further.

7,11 and 3First off, even companies as big as Google can't get their act together and take the Beta tag off anything.  What am I actually pointing at here...that would be Gmail which is going on something like 5 years with that little Beta tag dangling off the lower right corner, and although the BETA graphic has gotten better looking, IT'S STILL THERE!

It makes it super convenient for them, to not have to have an excuse as to why you logged in one day and all of your mail mysteriously dissapeared.  Try giving them a call after that happens, you'll love the response...

Ring...Ring...Ring...click!

Google: 'Hello, thanks for calling Google, what part of your life can we take over today?'

You: 'WHAT?!?  Nothing, what happened to my FRACKING email, I just logged on and everything imporant in my life is GONE.  My entire business is run through that application!!! What happened?!?!?!?!?!?!?'

Google: 'Oh we're sorry, we're not sure what happened, but...'

[and here it comes]

Google: 'Gmail is just a Beta and we are still under going testing.'

So I say why the hell do I have to make up excuses for why certain aspects of my site may look a little off, or I left out some important blogging features like commenting [thanks mom].

Look we [meaning designers and developers] all know that for a designer or developer it is incredibly hard to make time or to do anything for yourself.  I slam my keyboard for 12 sometimes 18 hours a day pushing projects out, so I can afford the next thing that has an Apple logo on it.  Making time for my own content, blog and/or portfolio will require me to wait till day 2 before I purchase the 3G iPhone and that is...obviously...completely unacceptable.

So as we continue into the future, please remember I have little time in my life to devote to a lot of different things.  So, I will post when I can, let me know what I can do to improve, and if you like some of the idea's I have, want one of the applications I am working on, or want to chit chat [please don't] drop me a line.  I may not get back to you today, or even tomorrow, but I PROMISE I will, even if you do want to just chit chat.

Great post, great site. This post was hilarious. Have you ever thought of writing a screenplay of this call to Google? I think it would sell... Keep up the good work!

As someone regularly considered your twin sister, I unfortunately only understand about 2% of what you've blogged about. But you look hot!

Geeeezzz...Jeff! I haven't seen you since I quit Inspection Depot in 03. I almost didn't recognize you from your pic! What happened to that baby-faced boy I used to work with??? I guess you grew up! So design menace would now be a good title for you. You look kind of "menacing" in your photo. I'll still remember you as that baby-faced boy who liked to come to work in shorts & flip-flops.... and whats up with all those tats! Good to hear from you... I wish you all the best! Joann

You're such a dork. I only wish you would work on stuff that I need you to work on instead of trying to make people look pretty with avatars. I am heading to Beantown tomorrow to drum us up somemore bizness. Give me a call when you have a bit.... I need to find out when we can retire.
