 Love the Action

Fundraising for charities, nonprofits, and organizations was just made easier to establish with the launching of the new website “Love the Action”.  The site, which serves as a simple "one-stop" portal centered on college and professional sports, focuses on supporting the administrative needs of the nonprofit sector and fundraising goals.  To visit, go to www.lovetheaction.com.

“Love the Action” is a one-of-a kind site that offers a remarkable software tool to generate funds for organizational needs. The site provides a simple-to-use platform that focuses on the viral capabilities which the web and social networking sites provide in today’s society.  Whether your organization is looking to raise small or vast amounts of money for your purpose, “Love the Action” has a solution.  Additionally, the site provides numerous persons within a single organization the opportunity to set up a fundraiser in a matter of minutes!

The software offers a variety of different outlets to reach the masses, while also incorporating additional opportunities for use in sales incentives, team building, and corporate promotions.  The staff at “Love the Action” is extremely responsive and will personally work with its clients to ensure that they reap the greatest rewards for their cause.  A “document library” is in the works to guarantee that organizations will be able to facilitate the goals and accomplishments of their work.  At the site, users will also have the ability to blog about all aspects of nonprofit management and best practices.

The mission at “Love the Action” is to reinforce organizations throughout the nation so that they can better serve their constituents. “Love the Action” believes offering a service to any fundraising organization, no matter the size; can alleviate the burden on an organization’s board, thus allowing more time dedicated to mission accomplishment. Their team of experts has worked with countless organizations to enhance their ability to manage and perform more effectively in a competitive environment.

Avatar Generator http://www.designmenace.com/2008/6/avatar-generator/ http://www.designmenace.com/2008/6/avatar-generator/#comments Sun, 08 June 2008 17:57:27 +0000 Jeffrey Hunter http://www.designmenace.com/2008/6/avatar-generator/ One thing I have always found insanely annoying when designing or even using a social network, is the constant battle with inconsistently sized avatars.  As a user, I understand I can only do my part, but as a designer, I have been continually vexed by my inability to find a good Avatar Generator around the internet.

AnnoyingFor those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, an Avatar is a computer user's representation of himself or herself.  Open up Facebook, or God forbid Myspace, and look at your friends lists.  Bingo...Avatars.  And no matter what you will always have that one jackass who cuts himself out of a wedding photo, making their profile picture 60px X 400px, and now your profile looks like a working piece of shite!

As I said before...as a user, I have done my part.  As a designer I have failed to find a good Avatar Generator...so as always I just built one, and have decided that if I post the code...maybe I can get some of these other social networks on the same page.  (Doubtful!)]]> One thing I have always found insanely annoying when designing or even using a social network, is the constant battle with inconsistently sized avatars.  As a user, I understand I can only do my part, but as a designer, I have been continually vexed by my inability to find a good Avatar Generator around the internet.

And since I probably will get some crap for this, let me go into why a little further.

7,11 and 3First off, even companies as big as Google can't get their act together and take the Beta tag off anything.  What am I actually pointing at here...that would be Gmail which is going on something like 5 years with that little Beta tag dangling off the lower right corner, and although the BETA graphic has gotten better looking, IT'S STILL THERE!

It makes it super convenient for them, to not have to have an excuse as to why you logged in one day and all of your mail mysteriously dissapeared.  Try giving them a call after that happens, you'll love the response...]]> As so many do, I have launched Design Menace under the Beta tag. Ring...Ring...Ring...click!

Google: 'Hello, thanks for calling Google, what part of your life can we take over today?'

You: 'WHAT?!?  Nothing, what happened to my FRACKING email, I just logged on and everything imporant in my life is GONE.  My entire business is run through that application!!! What happened?!?!?!?!?!?!?'

Google: 'Oh we're sorry, we're not sure what happened, but...'

[and here it comes]

Google: 'Gmail is just a Beta and we are still under going testing.'

So I say why the hell do I have to make up excuses for why certain aspects of my site may look a little off, or I left out some important blogging features like commenting [thanks mom].

Look we [meaning designers and developers] all know that for a designer or developer it is incredibly hard to make time or to do anything for yourself.  I slam my keyboard for 12 sometimes 18 hours a day pushing projects out, so I can afford the next thing that has an Apple logo on it.  Making time for my own content, blog and/or portfolio will require me to wait till day 2 before I purchase the 3G iPhone and that is...obviously...completely unacceptable.

So as we continue into the future, please remember I have little time in my life to devote to a lot of different things.  So, I will post when I can, let me know what I can do to improve, and if you like some of the idea's I have, want one of the applications I am working on, or want to chit chat [please don't] drop me a line.  I may not get back to you today, or even tomorrow, but I PROMISE I will, even if you do want to just chit chat.]]> http://www.designmenace.com/2008/5/yup-thats-a-beta-tag/feed/ Adding Code to your Blog...because I didn't like anybody elses. http://www.designmenace.com/2008/5/adding-code-to-your-blog...because-i-didnt-like-anybody-elses-/ http://www.designmenace.com/2008/5/adding-code-to-your-blog...because-i-didnt-like-anybody-elses-/#comments Wed, 21 May 2008 13:18:32 +0000 Jeffrey Hunter http://www.designmenace.com/2008/5/adding-code-to-your-blog...because-i-didnt-like-anybody-elses-/ Soooooooo, as most of you know, when it comes to coding I can be stubborn.  Building out my new blogging system has led me down some interesting roads, and one of them was implementing code within your Blogs.  As you can see from below I figured out how to do it by putting [CODER][/CODER] tags in my blogs.  Then I pass each blog through a set of functions and the one below is one of them.]]> Soooooooo, as most of you know, when it comes to coding I can be stubborn.  Building out my new blogging system has led me down some interesting roads, and one of them was implementing code within your Blogs.  As you can see from below I figured out how to do it by putting [CODER][/CODER] tags in my blogs.  Then I pass each blog through a set of functions and the one below is one of them.[FEED]

If you are looking to have any design work done, give him a shout below.  Logo's, business cards, brouchures, video, 3D Animation, websites...pretty much anything you can think of.

I honestly have no clue what I am doing or writting about but everybody is telling me it will be good for me...Both professionally and socially.[FEED]

For a quick once over, I was born in San Francisco, moved to LA, then Connecticut, went to school in Boston, and finally ended up in Jacksonville Florida (Don't even get me started on this place.) I studied Visual Communications at Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusettes and took one Web Design class the entire time I was there. So how did I get into Web Development? The way most do, with one book and 3 weeks of sitting in front of my computer eating it all up. I have been developing since 2003 and have found it's my passion.

As you will come to find out through my entries I like to "challenge" myself by developing a lot of things to cater to me. Example? Ok...Wordpress was my preferred blogging platform when I began this journey, however, I realized that as I got deeper and deeper into the design I wanted more control and I didn't want to go pining through every line of code somebody else wrote...so I began my own blogging system. Stupid? Yeah probably...why write up a new Blogging system when there are several to use out there. Answer...I wanted too. April calls this being stubborn.
